Exact-match spring review
Suggested from wire candidate, inside diameter, relaxed length, wind, door weight, drums, track, and spring count.
Evidence: measurement + system photos · Confidence updates as evidence arrives
I Can HandymanNEW PROJECTStep 1
Create a local project record. No account is required for the free beta.
Tell us who is using the tool and what the door is doing.
Step 2
Stay on the floor when possible, use camera zoom, and keep hands and tools out of the spring/cable area.
The frame turns green when resolution and lighting are usable. It does not approve the repair.
Evidence only: green confirms resolution, lighting, and sharpness. It does not identify the object, diagnose the door, or approve a repair.
Step 3
A direct ruler reading is the primary measurement. A known-size object is only a secondary photo reference because perspective can distort scale.
Measure the length of 20 consecutive coils. Do not enter the danger zone or move, unwind, loosen, or remove hardware to obtain a reading.
Uses your measured wire candidate, inside diameter, spring body length, door height, and spring count. Add the weighed door and verified effective drum radius.
Step 4
Candidates are built from your evidence. I Can Handyman does not sell parts or tools.
Suggested from wire candidate, inside diameter, relaxed length, wind, door weight, drums, track, and spring count.
Evidence: measurement + system photos · Confidence updates as evidence arrivesA clean 20-coil ruler reading, optional 40-coil cross-check, and marked inside diameter.
Evidence: ruler photo + entered measurementsOne wire size up and four inches longer is shown only as a comparison for supplier review.
Evidence: cycle goal + complete system geometryRollers, bottom seal, sensors, remote, or specialty shaft appear only when that project evidence calls for them.
Evidence: model label + close, readable component photosStep 5
Mark every row Have, Need, or N/A. This checks documentation readiness only; owning tools is not proof of competence.
Step 6
Choose the job you are doing. Public cards show what each service covers; purchased access opens the working guide and its in-use feedback.
Stripe handles payment. Access is issued only after Stripe confirms payment with a signed server webhook.
Save this Access ID. A private link is also sent by email when delivery is connected.
Open project helpPaste the code from your receipt email. It stays active until Project complete, followed by a two-hour reopen window.
Use an emailed magic link, Google, or AMH Apps. Account sign-in is optional for the free beta.
Spring Change / Replacement is the lead service. Detailed paid steps, private video, and Good / Needs work feedback stay inside active project access.
Identify the setup, size the existing spring, match parts and tools, then open the safety-gated project guide after access is active.

Alignment evidence • wiring view • final obstruction and reversal checks

Exact model match • official pairing path • completion proof

Compatibility • safe power boundary • programming and test

Model label • symptom capture • manufacturer service path

Exact section profile • finish match • hardware boundaries

Opening survey • track geometry • manufacturer installation plan
Step 7
The project stays open until all relevant checks are captured. Never stand or place an object under a moving door for a test.
Only perform tests permitted by the manufacturer and within your qualifications. Stop if movement is uneven, noisy, jerky, unstable, or cables appear loose.
